About Us

Food Picked with Love is an organization of teens dedicated to reducing food waste and food insecurity. We pick food in our local communities and donate it to food banks.

We started in Marin County, CA and now have chapters across the State.

Founder

Audrey Lowell, a student at Tamalpais High School, founded Food Picked with Love, in early 2020. She noticed the abundance of fruit in her neighborhood that was going to waste. She gathered a group of teens and coordinated with the local food pantry. Today, Food Picked with Love has expanded to three cities and is still growing.

With the first donation, the food bank manager said, “I can see this was food picked with love.” That’s how our name came to be.

Our Impact

  • Citrus fruit overflowing from a Food Picked with Love bag.

In one neighborhood alone we have picked and donated over 5,000 pounds of fruit.

  • Family of four with dad, mom and two sisters.

The food we pick serves over 120 Marin County families each week.

  • Food donation box overflowing with goods.

At times, the fruit we donate is the only fruit distributed to families for the week.
